The Northern Suburban Special Education District, also known as NSSED, administers a variety of responsive programs for students with special needs. It serves a population of more than 40,000 students in over 20 elementary and high school districts. The district offers various early childhood and educational and life skills programs. The Northern Suburban Special Education District provides a parent mentor program that features workshops, consulting services and educational opportunities for parents, school staff and community members. It also offers adapted physical education, assistive technology and autism services for individuals. Additionally, the center provides a range of health, transition, vision, hearing, and occupational and physical therapy services. The Northern Suburban Special Education District maintains its main office in Highland Park, Ill.
