History
Harold Monken started a Standard Station in the early 60's D&H Standard. Harold opened Car City selling preowned vehicles in 1964. In 1971 a gentleman from Japan was canvasing the area looking for a suitable partner for Nissan (Datsun). Harold grew the business and sold Car City Nissan in the late 80's. He stayed in the automotive business and was drawn back to owning a new car franchise in 1996. In 1997, Monken Jansen Chrysler Dodge Nissan was born. Shortly thereafter, Wes Monken purchased out Mike Jansen and the name simply became Monken's. Harold passed away in 2006 and second generation dealer Wes Monken has carried on the torch. Shortly before his passing Harold and Wes purchased Dobbs/Mahan Buick GMC and renamed it Monken Buick GMC. Wes and his sister Kim Monken McMillan are partners in Monken Buick GMC. Wes spends most of his time at Monken Chrysler Nissan and Kim runs the Buick GMC store.
