Funded by the Illinois Department on Aging, Metropolitan Asian Family Services provides adult day services to people age 60-plus. It is geared to meeting the needs of Asian Americans and immigrants, and most of its clientele was born in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh or Bosnia. In addition to adult day services, it offers two other primary services: the Community Care program, which sends helpers to seniors' homes to assist them with the tasks of daily living; and the general help program, which provides computer classes, citizenship information, help with filling out forms and documents, etc. MAFS has vans to pick seniors up or to deliver services to their homes. About 40-45 people come for adult day care each week, and they have access to fitness machines and a hot lunch.
