History
Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center (MPAC) is the oldest, continuous community music organization of its kind in the United States. Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center was vested the Mendelssohn Club on October 4, 1884, by Mrs. Clara Blanche Ellis Starr. Wanting to enhance music for women in the community, Mrs. Starr entertained a group of local music lovers in her home on North Main Street. Now in our 131st year, MPAC presents an exciting 2015-2016 concert season offering a wide range of music genres. Our quintessential chamber-style performances provide an intimate and interactive concert experience, making it the music of friends! We invite you to explore the exciting array of musical opportunities being offered this coming season. It is our vision to be the preeminent center for diverse music programming and educational opportunities in our community that fosters excitement and creativity amongst audiences and artists.
