Wauconda Middle School is a learning center that serves more than 450 students in grades six through eight. The school is a part of Wauconda Community Unit School District 118. Its academic curriculum includes language arts, math, science and social studies. The school conducts classes in media communication and public speaking. It also offers instruction in art, music and physical education, as well as operates a band and chorus. Wauconda Middle School s staff includes a media specialist, guidance counselor, psychologist, social worker, nurse and bilingual resource aides. The school supports a range of sports activities that includes basketball, cheerleading, cross country, soccer, volleyball, wrestling, and track and field. Located in Wauconda, Ill., the school operates a student council and chess, drama and yearbook clubs. In addition, Wauconda Middle School has a parent-teacher organization and publishes a newsletter.
