Ton Shen Health was founded by Zhengang Guo in 1985 to provide the traditional Chinese medicinal practices of acupuncture, herbal therapy and tuina massage therapy. Master Guo has dual training in traditional Chinese medicine as an herbalist and acupuncturist and in Western medicine as a surgeon and oncologist. The success of the health clinics (additional branches in Chicago and Westmont) has resulted in the formation of a parent company, Life Rising, which also includes a research institute, herbal products (tea, cookies, supplements) and an educational school.
