History
In 1919 Frank Kruta Sr. established the bakery in E St Louis. He emigrated from Russia after training in Europe to be a baker. His sons, Tony, Joe (Peppy) , Frank Jr, and daughter Stella all eventually worked full time at the E St Louis bakery. Tony opened the Collinsville location in 1974 with his wife Susie and son Joe. Jim joined the business the following year and now runs the business with his two sons Jim Jr and Paul. Daughter Catherine is now also starting to give input on some specialty items.
Specialties
We are a third and fourth generation family bakery established in E St Louis in 1919. We offer a full line of family recipe items. We have rye, cream, and specialty breads. We also offer scratch baked decorated cakes with our own special buttercream. Stollens, strudels, donuts, danish, cookies, coffee cakes, peanut cake, and of course gooey butter!
