What began on the campus of Harvard in 1968 landed here in Skokie ten years later. Abidullah and Tasneema Ghazi, then Harvard students, saw a need for an Islamic Sunday school on the campus. Their search for educational materials that they could use to teach the faith led to a lifelong passion and the authorship of a good deal of Islamic textbooks for children.
Today, the non-profit foundation continues its work in Skokie with a library of over 150 published books and reference materials. Iqra is one of the most popular Islamic educational foundations in North America.
