Insituform constructs and rehabilitates water, sewer and other difficult-to-access pipes throughout the world using technologies that minimize digging and disruption. The Insituform story began more than 30 years ago in England where researchers developed a technology for restoring broken sewers without digging up the original pipe. Calling their discovery Insituform, they are the forefathers both of the company and the trenchless technology industry. Ongoing research and development has resulted in improvements to the Insituform cured-in-place process, further enhancing its durability and expanding its range of application. It has been used to reconstruct more than 8,500 miles of underground pipe throughout the world. The company also expanded business to include a tunneling operation and proprietary process for protecting the steel pipelines used in the oil, gas and mining industries from corrosion. In 2001, it further added pipebursting, microtunneling and sliplining to its menu of trenchless capabilities. Insituform has a location in Lemont, Ill.
