Illinois State Police provides law enforcement and crime prevention services. The state department is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. The department intervenes in cases of domestic violence and provides information and assistance to victims. Its investigators interview people, gather documents and evaluate facts related to crimes. Illinois State Police additionally organizes a range of anti-drug activities. Additionally, the department provides a range of services, such as sex offender information, traffic safety, patrolling, recovery of stolen property and other information services. Illinois State Police has received the Lincoln Award for Commitment to Excellence from the Lincoln Foundation for Business Excellence.
