The Harvard Police Department works to prevent crime, preserve peace, and protect the rights, lives and property of the city residents through the enforcement of local, state and federal laws. The department maintains an investigation division that collects and preserves evidence, recovers property, and interviews, interrogates and apprehends offenders. The Harvard Police Department supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), School Resource Officer and Explorer Post programs. It also administers the Crime Stoppers program, which seeks to identify criminals through citizens involvement. The Department employs several civilian personnel who answer and dispatch officers in response to emergency calls. The Harvard Police Department is comprised of more than 20 sworn officers. It is located in Harvard, Ill.
