History
Great Oaks began with a vision to reach the unchurched in our community. A team of volunteers from Grace Church in Morton joined others in the Germantown Hills/Metamora community in praying for the beginnings of Great Oaks. The first service was held on Easter Sunday in March of 1997. During the summer and fall of 1997 discussions began about finding land for the future church facilities. In partnership with our denomination we were able to obtain 42 acres of prime property next to Germantown Hills Middle School. Great Oaks went through the normal growing pains the first few years of its existence. The summer of 2002 brought new pastoral leadership and an emphasis on being a church focused on a simple structure to help people grow in their relationship with God. We have added several full-time staff over the last 7 years as the church has grown. Also, we moved into our first facility during the summer of 2006, after holding services for many years in local schools.
