The DuPage County Health Department provides education and information regarding physical and emotional health; offers prevention and treatment of illness, injury and disability; and protects health from environmental risk factors. The department s mental health services include outpatient programs, depression services, crisis centers, psychiatric rehabilitation, vocational training and volunteer programs. Its community health services include screening and educational services pertaining to breast and cervical cancer, breastfeeding assistance, abuse prevention, issuance of birth and death certificates, dental and oral health services and referrals, services pertaining to family planning, tuberculosis services, vision and hearing screenings, prenatal services, nutrition counseling and immunizations for foreign travel. The department s environmental health services include sanitation inspections of institutions, private sewage disposal, restaurant inspections, well and septic surveys, well permits and inspections of swimming pools and spas.
