History
Kari started Conscious Care in January 2003. After working for fifteen years with young children, she wanted a change, but something that she was passionate about, and devoted to. So she turned her love and commitment to animals in her personal life into a business. Always learning and educating herself, Kari reads extensively about dog and cat behavior in order to provide the best possible care for her clients' animals. She has also studied informally with her vet and a pet sitter who have years of experience administering medication to medically fragile cats and dogs. Kari is also the legal caretaker of a feral cat colony in east Rogers Park. She works with Tree House Humane Society to spay and neuter the cats and to find homes for the friendly ferals and strays. She provides the cats who live outside with food, shelter, medical care and of course, love. The work with feral cats has brought new skills and understanding about cats and how to support them (in/out doors).
Specialties
Kari has received extensive training and instruction on dog and cat behavior, medical care, First Aid and CPR for animals from the Anti-Cruelty Society and Red Cross, as well as training in medication administration. This allowed her to extend her services to ill and disabled dogs and cats, providing them with specialized care and offering her clients the peace of mind that their companions are under a trusted and watchful eye while they are away.
