The Children's Advocacy Centers of Illinois (CACI) is a leading resource and network that coordinates a comprehensive response to child abuse in Illinois. Established in 1995, CACI is an accredited chapter of the National Children's Alliance (NCA) and works in partnership with local communities and agencies to support and sustain Children's Advocacy Centers (CACs) throughout the state. CACI stays up-to-date with the latest research and child-friendly approaches in investigating and treating child abuse, with a mission to begin the healing process for abused children. CACI believes that children begin to heal the moment they are heard, and when there is an allegation of child sexual or severe physical abuse in Illinois, children are referred to a local CAC. At the CAC, a trained professional conducts an interview in a child-friendly environment, while members of the multidisciplinary team observe. Following the interview, the child and their family receive advocacy, medical, and mental health referrals to support their healing process.
