Chicago Access Network Television, also known as CAN TV, is an independent nonprofit organization established in 1983 to administer and promote the use of Chicago s public access channels. It provides video training, equipment, facilities and channel time for Chicago residents and nonprofit groups. Its five local, noncommercial channels reach more than 1 million viewers in the city of Chicago. CAN TV has received awards at the local, state and national level for its programming and services. It offers free, one-hour orientation session to Chicago residents that outline CAN TV s programming and services in detail. Its nonprofit services include interactive bulletin boards, tape submission, production support and event coverage.
