Cathy McAfee, MD, is with Springfield Clinic’s Internal Medicine Department seeing patients at our Main Campus East location in Springfield. She has been with Springfield Clinic since 2008. Dr. McAfee earned her medical degree from Northwestern University School of Medicine in Chicago and completed her internal medicine residency at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, OR. Prior to joining Springfield Clinic, she provided care in Decatur for four years and served as a physician consultant for the Department of Healthcare & Family Services. “I knew wanted to be in health care around the ninth grade,” says Dr. McAfee. “After reading an article about the importance of genetics sparked my interest in getting involved in medicine.” Dr. McAfee’s scope of practice includes primary internal medicine. She sees adults of all ages for various care need ranging from heart disease to diabetes management. “I just enjoy getting to know people and learning about their families and home life,” says Dr. McAfee. “As a part of that, I want my patients to know that I am on their side and on their team.
