Founded four years before Good Shepherd Hospital was built, The Auxiliary raised enough funds to help Barrington residents realize quality healthcare. Today, the all volunteer group carries on its mission with The Catchpenny shop. Donations are sold to help defray costs at Good Shepherd Hospital. The shop is happy to accept most donations that are in clean/good condition, but does not accept furniture. Items not sold are donated to the Infant Welfare Society and veterans at North Chicago Hospital.

i love catchpenny.. yes, it is a hit or miss, mostly a miss, for me - but it is worth checking out. the old ladies that tend to the store are wonderful and cheery, you just need to smile at them....

While the prices are good the service could be a little friendlier. What's so hard about greeting customers? Isn't that the idea///to make the shopping experience enjoyable?
