CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. It is a nonprofit training, recruiting, and supporting volunteers to monitor court cases of minors who have been adjudicated as neglected, abused, or dependent. Additionally, these people write objective, fact-based reports that include information about the child's life, such as foster placement, stress within the family, medical ailments, and personal needs like glasses. These reports are then handed over to juvenile court judges. CASA was founded more than 19 years ago and has more than 154 volunteers today.
