Capital Area Career Center aims to provide various career options to students, and increase employment opportunities through technical and workplace skill development. The center offers training in more than 15 career fields, including agricultural and industrial mechanics, auto technology and servicing, construction, business technology, collision repair technology, communications and media, culinary arts, and drafting. The center also provides programs in cosmetology, early childhood care and education, health occupations, law enforcement, power equipment technology, and welding. It also houses the Capital Area School of Practical Nursing, where adult students can complete the licensed practical nursing program. Located in Springfield, Ill., it serves many school districts in the state, including Glenwood, Lanphier, New Berlin, Pleasant Plains, Riverton, Lutheran, Franklin and Taylorville.
