Broughton Map
Broughton is a village in Hamilton County, Illinois, United States. The population was 193 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Mount Vernon Micropolitan Statistical Area.
The village was founded in the 1720s as Saint Philippe du Grand Marais (called St. Philippe) by French coureurs de bois. In the early 19th century, it became known as Rectorville, from Rector Creek, which was named for federal land surveyor John Rector.
