History
Johann Bayer immigrated to the U.S. in 1957 and trained as a blacksmith. With his sons, he opened the doors to Bayer Blacksmith in 1981. His portfolio includes brass work in the lobby of the Drake Hotel and transformation of a Canadian icebreaker into the Chicago Yacht Club. Son Art soon discovered an affinity for the construction side of the business and founded Bayer Builders in 1991. Art's own sons joined the business after completing a roofing apprenticeship in Chicago (John) and a framing apprenticeship in Alaska (Aaron). John and Aaron continue in their grandpa's footsteps. Bayer Builders' business model is unique. The family has a strong history as craftsmen, but John and Aaron were also trained in the fast-paced, competitive fields of framing, carpentry and roofing. Combining artistry with fast, professional work means Bayer Builders can execute innovative projects or quickly turn a home for resale.
