The Aurora Public Property Department provides street maintenance services for the City of Aurora in Aurora, Ill. The department through its Street Maintenance Division, Neighborhood Redevelopment Division, and Water and Sewer Maintenance Division, is responsible for the maintenance of approximately 1,200 lane miles of public roadway and right of way. Various maintenance programs have been implemented which maximize the use of the departments approximately 38 full-time maintenance workers. A management team of six is responsible for the day-to-day operations, as well as for short and long range planning. Aurora Public Property provides services in the areas of curbs and gutters, flooded streets, pavement markers, potholes, road construction, sidewalks and regulatory signage. Aurora is located in northeast Illinois and has a population of more than 155,000. It is the second largest city in Illinois behind Chicago.
