The Office of the Illinois Attorney General, governed by the state of Illinois, annually receives more than 32,575 consumer complaints and Assisted in the prosecution of over 230 criminal cases. The office analyzes and recommends compensation claims to be awarded to the victims of violent crimes and their families. It also processes case referrals from state government agencies and constitutional officers. The Office of the Illinois Attorney General public utilities bureau advocates on the behalf of Illinois consumers before the Illinois Commerce Commission and courts. In addition, the office advocates for older citizens and helps crime victims. Its mediation program assists in resolving disputes and complaints concerning individual consumers and businesses.
