Acorn Public Library provides materials and services that meet the educational, recreational, cultural and informational needs of all segments of the community. The library s Young Adult Services Department offers references, readers advisory and information services to young adults, ages 12-years to 16-years. It also provides Internet access to cardholders, magazines, audio-visual materials, online homework help and teacher assignment alert services. The children s room contains more than 25,000 volumes of books, including fiction and non-fiction, paperbacks, books-on-tape, comic books, Braille books, new book selection and textbooks from local elementary schools. The library s system wide automated network maintains an online catalog of more than 1 million titles of books, periodicals, cassettes, videos, CD's, DVD's and other library materials. The catalog can be searched by author, title, subject, author/title combination and all categories. The Acorn Public Library is a member of the Metropolitan Library System and is closed on Sundays. The library is located in Oak Forest, Ill.
