History
Started in 1993 by Founding Artistc Director, Guy VanSwearingen along with ensemble members Larry Grimm and Michael Shannon, A Red Orchid Theatre is an ensemble of 16 critically aclaimed and reveared artists including actors, directors, desgners, playwrites and technicians; current Artistic Director and long time ensemble member Kirsten Fitzgerald(actor), Dado(director & actor), Lance Baker (actor & director), Jennifer Engstrom(actor), Joseph Fosco(designer & composer), Mierka Girten(actor), Larry Grimm(actor & director, Director of Education)), Steve Haggard(actor), Karen Kawa(designer), Karen Kessler(director), Danny McCarthy(actor), Brett Neveu(playwrite), Michael Shannon(actor & director), Guy VanSwearingen(actor & director), Doug Vickers(actor) and Tiffany Wilson(stage manager).

We believe that theatre is the greatest sustenance for the human spirit and approach our work with a palpable sense of social compassion, aesthetic rigor, and honesty. By presenting new plays from all over the world and by reviving insightful works from the past that bear new relevance today, we aim to seek out and build new audiences for the modern stage.
