When I was an employee, it amazed me that work teams weren't as effective as they could be. The obvious result was lower productivity, and another casualty was morale. And so, 30 years ago I decided to make a difference. I had been trained by a coach (this was before coaching institutes emerged), and it made a huge impact on me. I asked my coach to teach me how to coach others, and before long I was training others in what is now called emotional intelligence. Yes, I was actually teaching EQ before emotional intelligence was a thing, too. During this time I got certified as a behavioral analyst. I also earned a degree in Workforce Education & Development plus a master's in Training & Development. I am
