History
Sumisu was started by a group of foodies who were disappointed that certain Asian cuisines weren't available in Pocatello. Doug Smith, our executive chef, was trained in traditional sushi technique at the California Sushi Academy, with the intention of providing Pocatello with its first sushi restaurant. He has trained our sushi staff, many of whom have come to us with years of experience in sushi. Alex Hartwig, our head chef, was brought in to put a twist on Asian favorites, with his traditional French and American technique. Our service staff includes many of the most experienced and knowledgeable personnel in Southeast Idaho. We hope to provide great food to the city of Pocatello for many years to come!
Specialties
We serve fresh sushi flown in from the coasts. All menu items, including sauces are made in house and cooked fresh to order. We have many hot food options for those who don' t like just sushi. Ingredients and inspiration for our dishes range from Japan and Korea, to Southeast Asia and mainland China. We strive to provide a unique food experience for Pocatello with the best ingredients available at an affordable price.
