Northern Lights is a member-owned electric utility. Based in Sagle, Idaho, it is a rural electric cooperative that serves northern Idaho, western Montana and northeast Washington. The cooperative s job is to deliver electricity and other energy service to more than 2,600 miles of distribution line to the rural residents it serves. Founded in 1935, it is the oldest rural electric cooperative west of the Mississippi River. Products and services provided by Northern Lights include Internet service, automated meter reading, propane, automatic bill pay and a rebate program. The company also offers energy-saving tips on its Web site.
