The Idaho Department of Correction provides incarceration facilities for adult felons sentenced by courts, presentence reports for courts, and supervision services for probationers and parolees. It maintains a speaker s bureau that offers insight into the criminal justice system to various community groups. The bureau discusses various topics, including the basic overview of corrections, expertise on sexual offenses, education behind bars, transitioning inmates to communities successfully and information on employing offenders. The Idaho Department of Correction supports Victim Information and Notification Everyday (VINE), which is a program that informs and involves crime victims in important matters related to their cases. The department also conducts several cognitive, mental health, substance abuse, aftercare and family reunification programs, as well as provides vocational education. The Idaho Department of Correction employs more than 1,500 staff members and maintains an office in Cottonwood, Idaho.
