Established in 1949, Lakeland Junior High School is an academic institution that provides a variety of learning opportunities to students in grades seven and eight. Its curriculum includes science, social studies, math, history and language arts. The school also offers classes in computer applications, culinary arts, industrial technology, life skills development, and health and physical education. Lakeland Junior High School provides nursing, counseling and food services. It administers a gifted and talented program that serves students with learning disabilities. The school offers a variety of sports programs that includes volleyball, cross-country, football, wrestling and basketball. Lakeland Junior High School maintains a library, as well as conducts parent-teacher meetings. It organizes various fundraising events and field trips. The school is a part of Lakeland Joint School District 272, which governs various elementary and secondary schools.
