History
In October of 2007, two hotshot firefighters put their axes and chainsaws down and began repairing and donating used bikes to under privileged kids. They dreamed of creating a cooperative workspace that made bicycle education and quality-recycled bicycles available to the entire community. Seven years later, BBP has donated over 10,215 bicycles to the Treasure Valley, while teaching countless members of the community about bicycle repair and safety. BBP has grown into a fully functional bicycle cooperative with services to offer every demographic. It has truly been a dream come true, and the impact on Boise can be seen with recycled bicycles gracing the streets everywhere you look. At Boise Bicycle Project we rebuild bikes to build better lives. Please join the ride and give today.
Specialties
Boise Bicycle Project (BBP) is a nonprofit collective/DIY bicycle repair space. We sell quality refurbished bikes and bike parts at affordable prices, provide an open workspace and experienced mechanics to help you work/learn to work on your own bicycle and we believe that riding and working on a bicycle is an empowering experience for the whole community to enjoy. BBP's retail area operates similar to a thrift store. We almost always have 10-15 bicycles for sale (ranging from $80-$350), and a huge variety of parts available for purchase. The bikes we sell have been overhauled by our expert mechanics and are hand selected for their sustainability. BBP offers memberships for $60/$100 a year. As a member you can use the shop whenever it is open at no additional cost. You will also enjoy discounts and weekly classes to help build your mechanical knowledge base! If you're not a member, it costs $10/hour to use the shop and folks are seen on a first come first serviced basis, which means there is often a line and you'll have to wait before we can assist you. BBP also accepts bicycle donations during open shop time and we are also always looking for volunteers!
