History
In 2012, the vision of The Brave Fitness began with the creation of Busan Urban Training, a free community functional fitness group created by Dharma Shay and Scottie Hoang. Dharma eventually brought the system back home with him to Hilo to start Hawaii Urban Training and recently The Brave Fitness facility. The Brave Fitness is a functional fitness training facility. From the point you step through the door we will work with you utilizing sound strength training, conditioning, stretching, and self-defense knowledge to ensure you have the option to make progress towards your individual goal. Once you have signed up you have access to A class of your choice and open gym use.

The Brave Fitness specializes in functional fitness, athletic training, personal training, nutrition guidance, high-intensity interval training, post-natal exercise classes, youth athletic training, strength and conditioning, Olympic lifting, jiu-jitsu, and stand up martial arts. Functional Fitness is best described as an exercise that trains your muscles to improve your muscle's ability to do everyday activities safely and efficiently. At the Brave, we mix strength, conditioning, mobility, guidance, community, and a solid work ethic to develop the members who can sprint a hill, climb a wall, pull up and over a bar, lift their weight, and drag a person to safety while maintaining good form and structural integrity. At the Brave, you get both the hardcore circuit training and the essentials of basic and advanced lifting. Our staff are both experienced and professionally trained.
