Suisan products purchased in stores and gourmet food centers worldwide are renowned for their wonderful 'fresh from the Islands' taste. Founded in Hawaii in 1907 by a small group of Waiakea fishermen and sellers, it began as an organization for marketing fresh fish. It later entered the frozen food business, took over a local shoyu (soy sauce) and miso brewery, acquired a jam and jelly plant and built a processing operation for guava puree and other popular island fruits. In 1994, Suisan Company added a produce division to compliment the array of dry groceries and refrigerated products. Suisan is the foremost food distributor on the Big Island of Hawaii and has both wholesale and retail operations providing meats, vegetables, deserts and more.
