American Box Car Racing International (ABCRI) is a local nonprofit organization in Honolulu, HI that has been serving Hawaii's youth and families since 1996. Their mission is to mentor youth by bringing families together to learn box car design and racing, fostering increased self-esteem, new skill acquisition, leadership development, and promoting safer driving practices. ABCRI's Box Car Track in Kunia, formerly known as Race World Hawaii, unfortunately closed on February 28, 2015, due to a termination notice from the City Administration. Despite efforts from community representatives and leaders, the organization was unable to continue operating due to financial constraints caused by the City's actions. ABCRI hopes that the City will find a new operator to reopen the Box Car Track in Kunia, as it has been a beloved venue for over 200,000 youth and parents to enjoy family time together.
