History
In 1997, Allan and Tom selected the four acres lacking ohia forest of their six-and-a-half acre property to become the Aikane Kona Coffee farm. Fortunately, even though this land had been pasture of the old cattle ranch for years, there remained generous pockets of rich old forest soil interspersed with the lava rock, allowing them to create a fertile orchard bed. They planted 1200 well nurtured Coffea arabica, 'Guatemalan' (variety typica) trees in November of 1997. In 1999, they sampled the first crop and to their great excitement, the resulting coffee was superb. In 2006, they added the Sea View estate at a warmer, lower elevation to the Aikane Kona Coffee family. Sample the different varieties and taste why Aikane Kona Coffee has won many prestigious awards over the years, most recently First Place in the 2015 Kona Coffee Festival Cupping Competition, Classic (estate farms) Division out of over 70 farms tasted, and the 2014 Winner of Chefs' Choice 5 Star Kona Coffee Award!
