Established in 1896, East Lake Elementary School offers classes from grades kindergarten through five. It has an enrollment of more than 1,000 students and provides supplies, such as pencils, pens, baby wipes, markers, scissors, glue sticks, erasers, binders, crayons, hand soaps and paper towels. The school has an active student council, beta club, chorus, and music and a chess club. It also has a weather station with instrumentation housed in the computer lab. Its media center offers an accelerated reader program and a library booster club that raises funds for the center to buy materials. Located in McDonough, Ga., the East Lake Elementary School has Web sites for kids, parents and teachers. The school also organizes team-building activities for students and staff.
