The Greater Travelers Rest Baptist Church strives to be "the house of hope." For more than 130 years, members of the Decatur community have gathered at this Flat Shoals Parkway place of worship. Ministry programs are catered towards all members of the community including the youth. The church even has a school for children in Decatur to attend that is more focused on a religious curriculum. Services are held every Sunday morning at 10am.

Riverside Baptist Church

Located on top of a hill is Riverside Baptist Church in Decatur. The building serves as a home for all those who want to worship with the Flat Shoals Parkway congregation. In addition to Sunday services, members of the community are invited to check out the church's educational programs. The Riverside Early Academic Development Center is open for children ages six weeks to 12 years. You can stop by the church during the week or give them a call for more information.

Established in 1974, Green Pastures Christian Ministries serves various children, adolescents and adults throughout Georgia. The organization offers a variety of community-based programs through several centers and clubs. Green Pastures Christian Ministries also operates a child care center that provides language development, listening skills, phonic and reading programs for children of various age groups. The center additionally conducts bible lessons. Green Pastures Christian Ministries also owns and operates an athletic foundation maintains its basketball, baseball, cheerleading, football, girls and boys scout, and track and field teams. The foundation also administers dancing and physical education programs. In addition, Green Pastures Christian Ministries maintains Green Pastures Christian School, which provides academic and spiritual education services for children in kindergarten through grade 12. The organization has its office in Decatur, Ga.
