Stone Mill Elementary is on a quiet, neighborhood street between Memorial Drive and North Hairston Road and is for children from Pre-K through fifth grade. Most students are from the surrounding community. Stone Mill has one of the most diverse student populations in Atlanta, with pupils from more than 25 countries. The school has three faculty members who teach English for speakers of other languages (ESOL). In the 2009-2010 year, it exceeded the state's goal for objective measures of reading, and takes part in the "25 Books Campaign," a county initiative that encourages reading. It also has a Math Masters program.
