The Spivey Hall Children's Choir Program, located on the campus of Clayton State University in Hampton, GA, offers professional-level choral instruction for young people ages 10 to 18. With a focus on vocal technique, music theory, sight singing, and presentation, the program provides exposure to a variety of choral styles and helps develop important life skills such as self-reliance, teamwork, and confidence.
Founded in 1994, the Spivey Hall Children's Choir is the flagship ensemble of the program, consisting of approximately 120 singers. Under the direction of Dr. Martha Shaw, the choir has gained recognition for its remarkable beauty of tone and expression, and has performed to acclaim both nationally and internationally. The program also includes the Tour Choir, a select group of young musicians who serve as cultural ambassadors for the state of Georgia, and the Young Artists choir, which prepares singers for participation in the Children's Choir.
