History

Purchased by the Georgia Conservancy as a state park in 1974, Panola Mountain has a rich history that dates back to the 1821. In 1980, the National Parks Service dubbed us a Natural National Landmark.

Home to a rare, pristine monadnock, Panola Mountain State Park provides you an oasis near Metro Atlanta to play, unwind, learn or discover the diverse natural and cultural heritage of the piedmont region. Our mountain is accessible by guided hikes only, so be sure to ask when the next one is!

I love Panola Mountain, I can't believe I used to drive all the way to Amicalola Falls to get out of the city! It's 1,635 acres,100 of them granite, smaller and more pristine than Stone Mountain....

Came here for a family reunion. We rented the pavilion and catered food. The area was large enough to accommodate all of us and we had no issues with parking. The only con is they need more trash...
