Oxford Industries is an international apparel design, sourcing and marketing company that features a diverse portfolio of owned and licensed lifestyle brands, company-owned retail operations, and a collection of private label apparel businesses. Originally founded in 1942, the company has undergone a transformation in recent years as it migrated from its historical domestic manufacturing roots towards a focus on designing and marketing apparel products bearing prominent trademarks. The first major step was its acquisition of the Tommy Bahama brand and operations in June 2003. Then, in July 2004, the company acquired the Ben Sherman brand and operations. In June 2006, another significant step in this transition occurred with the divestiture of its former Womenswear Group operations which produced private label women s sportswear, primarily for mass merchants. The company distributes products through several wholesale distribution channels including national chains, department stores, mass merchants, specialty stores, specialty catalog retailers and Internet retailers. Headquartered in Atlanta, Oxford Industries stock has traded on the New York Stock Exchange since 1964.
