The branch also oversees underground storage tank registration and remediation operations. It offers assistance with the certification of contractors involved in lead-based paint and asbestos removal. Land Protection Branch conducts compliance inspections for solid waste handling facilities. In addition, the branch approves surface mining land use plans. It reviews applications and plans for transfer stations and compost facilities. Land Protection Branch enforces regulations for the installation of hazardous substance underground storage tank systems.
