Established in 1911, Georgia Department of Labor is located in Atlanta. It is the state agency designated by the governor to lead the state's implementation of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998. It has broad authority over industrial and occupational safety and administration of labor laws. It has more than 50 local career centers which provide job seeker and employer services throughout the state. It has more than 50 local vocational rehabilitation offices which provide specific employment and employment-related services to people with disabilities, as well as a variety of employer services. It has more than 45 local one-stop centers which offer education, training and employment-related work force services.
