The Fallen Heroes Memorial in Lawrenceville, GA, located on the grounds of the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center, pays tribute to all Gwinnett residents who died in the line of duty in military or public safety service. The memorial features 13 black granite markers with the names of about 700 individuals, organized by categories of service, and a central pedestal with a bronze sculpture of an eagle carrying a rose.
Conceived by Buford residents Ron and Carolyn Buice, who lost three friends in Vietnam, the memorial was built in 2003 with private donations and support from Gwinnett County government. The ongoing purchase and installation of memorial bricks help defray maintenance costs and ensure the legacy of those honored continues to be remembered.
