Founded in 1994, the Georgia Tech Alumni Association is an educational institution that provides academic classes and extracurricular activities. It conducts classes in industrial design, building construction, aerospace engineering, economics, international affairs, biology, math, physics and psychology. The association manages the Georgia Institute of Technology, which is a research university that serves more than 19,000 undergraduate and graduate students and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. It organizes baseball, tennis, softball, swimming, golf, and track and field activities. The Georgia Tech Alumni Association operates the Ferst Center for the Arts, which has a seating capacity of over 1,000 people. Its Georgia Tech Alumni House hosts various business meetings, conferences and weddings. The association is affiliated with the Black Graduate Student Association, Georgia Tech Business Network, and Georgia Entrepreneurs Society. In addition, it manages the Alexander-Tharpe Fund, which offers scholarships for students who participate in athletic events.
