Georgia Parent Support Network, based in Atlanta, provides support, education and advocacy for children and youth with mental illness, emotional disturbances and behavioral differences. It maintains resource information about local services and nationwide help lines. It also provides advocates, who are knowledgeable about children's mental health issues and can provide emotional support, advocacy and linkage within the community. The organization provides short- and long-term placement services for children and adolescents with mental health and behavioral issues and arranges respite services for family members. Georgia Parent Support Network also coordinates community-based networks, designed on an individual basis, which allows juveniles who have been charged with sexual offenses to remain safely in the home with intensive monitoring.
