Founded in 2010 by restauranteur Reggie DiSante, George's Lowcountry Table offers a menu that resembles the cuisine of the coastal south with classics like shrimp and grits, fried green tomatoes, crab cakes and pan seared rockfish. Also on the menu are items more rare to the Athens dinning community: quail and polenta, eggplant pirogue stuffed with crab and crawfish etouffee and banana pepper stuffed with cheese and andouille sausage. The Lowcountry Table's namesake is George Davis who owned Gus Garcia's and Harry Bissett's starting in the 1980's. DiSante worked at both Athens landmarks beginning in 1995. For DiSante, George's Lowcountry Table pays homage to his mentor. With a full bar, count George's as a great place for a cocktail in addition to a charming dinner environment.
