Fulton County Animal Services provides animal care and control. The shelter usually houses more than 200 animals. Purebred and mixed-breed dogs, as well as cats, are available for adoption at the shelter. Adoption fees are $85 for dogs and $65 for cats. The fee includes recommended shots, de-worming, micro-chipping and spaying or neutering. Find available pets on the agency's website or visit in person.
Impounded animals are held for a minimum of seven days. It costs $35 to release an animal, plus $15 per day for boarding.
The shelter gives vaccinations in the lobby, Monday through Friday, from 2 pm to 5pm for $10 per shot. Low-cost and free spay and neuter events, as well as low-cost shot clinics, are offered during the year. Training classes and pet-retention counseling are provided by the shelter, as well.
Fulton County contracts with the nonprofit organization Barking Hound Village Foundation to manage the shelter. The organization encourages on- and off-site adoptions, works with rescue groups and assists owners with locating lost pets.
