The Department of Juvenile Justice is managed by the Commonwealth of Virginia. The department works to prevent and reduce delinquencies. It manages correctional facilities in Beaumont, Bon Air, Culpeper and Hanover in Virginia. The department operates halfway houses that provide transitional skills to juveniles leaving correctional centers. The Department of Juvenile Justice also offers nursing, inpatient medical, pharmacy, and preventive and restorative dental care services. The department manages a behavioral service unit that is responsible for directing and providing clinical services. In addition, it provides residential independent living services. The department manages a research and evaluation section that develops projections for the state responsible juvenile offenders.
